Read moreBeing a foster carer is one of the most challenging yet most rewarding things you’ll ever do. It truly is a life-changing experience – not just for you, but for the children you help too.
We value all the hard work you do as a foster carer, however we understand it isn’t always easy. The support we offer means that you will always have someone to talk to or help you through the ups and downs of fostering. Our support services are designed to be flexible and open to your whole family. We believe a supported foster family is a stable family.
We are there for you. You can talk to a member of our team about anything at any time, day or night, all year round.
You and your supervising social worker will get to know each other well during your foster placement. You will be visited and contacted regularly.
Even the most resilient foster carers need a rest sometimes. Respite carers will provide breaks so you can get some time and space to yourself.
You will receive an allowance to help support the child. This allowance will depend on the type and demands of the placement.
There’s nothing like sharing stories, experiences and tips with fellow foster carers. We organise regular foster carer support groups to help you build a network of friends who understand exactly what you’re going through.
Depending on the placement, we will assign skilled support workers to the child or young person if they need extra help. This is especially important if the child is struggling at school.
Having fun and learning as a family is great for your relationships. We organise regular social, cultural, sporting and educational activities for your whole family to get involved in.
Your health and wellbeing is very important. You will have one-on-one access to our qualified in-house therapists if needed.
Your professional development as a foster carer is extremely important to us. We will give you all the training and support you need throughout your time with us.
If the child in your care is from a different cultural background to you, we will give you the guidance you need to help them maintain and celebrate their identity.
This is our unique foster care support framework where a small, expert team works with you and the child to make sure everyone is happy, healthy and working towards the same goals.
We’ll help you join other fostering associations relevant to the state you live in.
